Our Intensive IELTS Kenya Training course starts at any time when we have new candidates for individualized and customized courses.
For regular training, we have a new intake at the beginning of every month and we have limited places.

You will be required to take an Initial Proficiency Test. This helps us to determine the required amount of training for each particular case.
The test comprises two parts: The general, Basic Test which gives us your general level of proficiency. The second part is a Mock IELTS test in reading and writing. This mock gives us an instant real case scenario if you were to take an IELTS exam right away.
This test is very important and helps us in planning for the training. It costs 2,000 Kes. It lasts 2-3 hours.

The cost of training for preparation depends on the level into which you are admitted. This is determined by the Initial Proficiency Evaluation which is mandatory. Further, the level determines the duration required for your particular case to achieve your expected outcomes. Thus the recommended time can be as little as 15 hours for candidates who score above Band Score 7.0 at our Initial Proficiency Evaluation, to more than 100 hours for students who score less than Band 5.0. Generally, students who can sit for IELTS General or Academic must be at least level B2. This ensures that you get a good score. However, students who are at level B1 can also be admitted to the program. They are advised to do a general English course for at least 2 months of immersion English program. This is to ensure that they get good scores when you sit for the test at the British Council.
IELTS Nairobi - Course Syllabus
The module begins with an overview of the IELTS Listening Test and what it includes. This will give you important facts about this module and what it is designed to assess.
Following this, we’ll show you the differences between each section of the Listening Test. In addition, we’ll show you the types of questions you will need to answer.
You will also have opportunities to practice these types of questions and gain the skills that you need.
At the end of this module, you will be able to test your knowledge by trying a full IELTS-style Listening practice test.
This module outlines the different features of the Speaking Test.
Part 1 of the Speaking Test, we focus on the grammar that you can use to talk about your likes and dislikes. We’ll give you some examples of how to extend your answers, or make them longer.
For Part 2 of the test, we’ll then focus on the “Individual Long Turn”. We’ll look at how to analyze the task effectively. We also look at how to organize your ideas so that you have a good start, and end, to your talk.
Part 3 of the test focuses on “The Discussion”. You’ll learn to develop vocabulary related to common Part 3 topics. Further, we’ll explain some of the common grammar features you need for success in the discussion.
This includes focusing on tenses and making comparisons. Later in the unit, we’ll introduce some strategies to make your pronunciation clearer.
In this module, you can watch and learn from videos of students taking different parts of the test. You can also practice the test using our audio recorder and compare your talk with our samples.
This module begins with an overview of the IELTS Reading Test and what it includes.
This will give you important information about what the test is designed to assess and the different question types used in the test.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice the skills you have learned so far. This includes a full IELTS-style practice Reading Test at the end of the module.
The module begins with an overview of the IELTS Writing Test and what it includes. We’ll then look at the two tasks involved in the test.
Task 1 – You’ll learn to identify different types of visuals and describe the topic and the main features of them.
Additionally, you’ll learn how to write an overview paragraph to summarize the key information. We’ll then look at describing data for Task 1 of the test.
You’ll learn about what language to use to describe data, as well as how to select and group information. We’ll also look at the language used for ordering ideas in paragraphs.
In addition, you ‘ll practice writing the opening and data description paragraphs. You can grade these with our new assessment criteria.
Furthermore, you can get feedback on your writing from your peers and give them feedback using the criteria.
In Task 2, we’ll take a closer look at the essay question to help you answer all its parts. We’ll similarly examine ways of planning and organizing your essay.
Likewise, we’ll analyze the different parts of an IELTS essay. We’ll also look in more detail at some possible task types in Task 2, and explain how they are assessed. We’ll then look at how to write a good essay with good structure and appropriate language.
Along the way, you’ll have a chance to practice writing an introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion.
You’ll practice proofreading and editing before writing in full Task 1 and Task 2 essays under timed conditions.
